Kayla The Caterpillar is a heartwarming story that celebrates growth, change, and the beauty of nature. With colorful, crystal-clear illustrations and easy-to-read text, it’s a perfect bedtime or early reader book for
young children eager to learn about the magic of transformation and for parents eager to teach their kids to embrace change, dream big and explore the world joyfully.

After forty-five years as a visual effects producer in the film industry, author Michael Morreale retired to the Sierra foothills in Northern California and soon parlayed his passion for writing into his debut children’s
book, Kayla The Caterpillar. With a penchant for storytelling and a deep love for nature, Michael hopes this will be the first of many books he will share with young readers.

As Michael recently stated, “It wasn’t until the birth of my first grandchild in April of 2024 that I decided to put pen to paper, and shortly thereafter Kayla the Caterpillar was born. I had a vision of what I thought
my title character should look like, but quickly realized I lacked the talent to take my words to the next level. That’s when I decided to contact a close friend, Jonathan Scheiner, and a partnership was born. Jonathan
is more than just an illustrator or designer. His sense of style, his attention to detail and of course his tremendous artistic talent make him the perfect collaborator and I look forward to many more such collaborations
over the years ahead.”

With more than 30 years of experience in product development and commercial art, Jonathan Scheiner has mastered the art and craft of refining visual content to perfection. “When Michael shared his beautiful story and
described his vision for the book,” Jonathan says, “I was immediately drawn to the project. I was thrilled to bring Kayla’s vibrant world to life through my illustrations. My grandson, a first-grade reader who followed the
illustration process, adores the story and takes pride in my work. I couldn’t be happier.”

Though only just published, Kayla the Caterpillar is already receiving high praise from educators and parents alike. Some examples:

“As a kindergarten teacher for over 20 years, I’ve come across thousands of children's books throughout my career. Kayla the Caterpillar is certainly one that will be added to my collection. Well thought out and
BEAUTIFULLY illustrated, this book engages young readers with easy to read text and exciting illustrations.  Bravo.”
