For those who are not familiar with Bitcoin, it is a type of digital money that you can trade directly with others without needing a bank. Its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, wanted it to be a payment system that relies on secure technology rather than having to trust a middleman.
God Bless Bitcoin asks the timely question: How do we fix our broken money?
Through in-depth conversations with blockchain and interfaith religious leaders (including Mark Cuban, Cathie Wood, Rabbi Michael Caras, Fr. Robert Sirico, Tony Hawk, Tim Draper, the film exposes the broken, unjust, and immoral nature of our current fiat-based monetary system, one that is intimately connected to the military industrial complex and the propagation of war. The film also shows how and why members of the poor and middle class feel an financial squeeze even when they work hard and lead fiscally responsible lives. God Bless Bitcoin ultimately suggests the ways in which Bitcoin can present alternatives to our current system that are more just, equitable, and peaceful.

My Interview with Brian and Kelly Estes:
- Why did you decide to make this movie?
Over the past few years, we’ve noticed how much everyone is struggling. In the grocery store, we see parents telling their kids that they can’t get a favorite cereal because it costs too much or that they need to get a generic brand. We see people filling up only halfway at the gas pump because they don’t have enough money to fill an entire tank. It’s painful to see. Even our own children, despite having college degrees, struggle to stretch their paychecks to cover their bills. People in all walks of life are wondering what they are doing wrong. Because of that, Brian felt called to make a movie that explained why no matter how many hours we work, our money can’t keep up because it is broken; but bitcoin could be a more ethical and moral form of money. Since Brian is not a storyteller, he asked Kelly to help him explain what he had in his head and heart. As a writing teacher, she agreed to help him get his story out. So, we teamed up two years ago to create God Bless Bitcoin.
-What made you decide to make the movie free to view?
We believe that it is the people who need to understand the hope that bitcoin provides the most are probably the ones who don’t have the disposable income to pay $10 to watch it. So, we decided to make it free; we want as many people as possible to be able to see this film so that they understand there is another financial system out there that would allow them to preserve their time, energy and God-given talents in order to save for a more abundant future for them and their families.
- How do you think Bitcoin will change the future?
It will give people a choice about how to save their money because they would have a place to store their extra earnings without those earnings being diluted by the money printer. When you give people choice, you give them hope.
- What advice do you have for people who are interested, get started investing in Bitcoin?
Do your homework and understand it is very volatile. Remember, it’s not a trading vehicle; it’s a place to store long-term value. And since bitcoin has no minimum investment requirement, people can invest as much or as little as they would like. We have friends, for example, who invest $100 every pay period in bitcoin using their Venmo account. A great website to learn more about bitcoin and how it works is hope.com
Now that you know a bit more about Bitcoin, if you don’t already own any, do you plan on investing in it?
