No matter where you are in the world, one of the biggest health concerns at the start of 2021 is the coronavirus. While it’s important to try and reduce your risk of catching COVID-19, it’s important that you look after your general health as well. Here are some of the things you should make sure aren’t overshadowed by your efforts to avoid the coronavirus.
Prepare for accidents and emergencies
As we continue to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the pandemic, it’s highly likely that you’ve bought a number of different items to help reduce the risk of you catching the virus. We’re now asked to wear a face mask pretty much wherever we go, whether that be a store, a restaurant or even a medical center. That’s a huge change compared to just 12 months ago when very few people wore them around the country. It’s highly likely that you’ve also bought more hand soap, disinfectant spray and wipes to try and clean your hands and surfaces regularly. While all of these items are important for your health, it’s also important not to forget the first aid products that you’ll need in case of an injury. Make sure your kit is well stocked with the basics, like plasters for cuts and creams for burns. Also, consider buying more advanced kit, like wrappings or braces to deal with more serious injuries like muscle strain.
Exercise regularly
While everybody is being encouraged to stay at home where possible, it can be easy to get into some bad habits. One of the major problems is if you spend more time sat on the couch or even laid in your bed. If you start using this time as an opportunity to exercise less, you could find yourself developing a number of health problems, such as putting on weight, losing muscle strength or developing aches and pains in your muscles. To avoid this from happening, try and make up for any exercise you’re currently not doing, like walking to work or going to the gym, and find other ways to exercise at home and in your local area. This could be anything from going for a walk around your block or even completing an exercise video in your back garden.
Keep an eye on your diet
As well as keeping an eye on how much you move around, it’s just as important to keep an eye on what food you’re eating as well. While you’re at home more, you will be closer to all of those unhealthy treats, like candy and chips, and could end up being tempted to snack more regularly.
You could even find yourself ordering more fast food, like burgers or pizzas, as you find there is less food in your house as you don’t go to the store as regularly. Luckily there are many ways of getting healthy food delivered to your door just as easily as fast food. Many grocery stores will now let you order fresh fruit and vegetables to your door. You could even get everything you need to cook whole recipes delivered in one single recipe box.
This is great covid advice, thanks for sharing! It has been crazy times and it makes it harder to stay in shape and focused. Hopefully life will be the same again someday.
