Encouraging Eco Friendliness in Your Business

Creating an eco friendly atmosphere in your workplace isn’t as difficult as you may think.  Here are just a few ways that you can encourage your employees to be more eco friendly.

Get a Water Cooler

Having a water cooler in your workplace will encourage your employees not to bring in plastic water bottles.  Be sure to routinely have the cooler cleaned and test the water.  Another option is to get a filtered water pitcher that can be filled and used as needed. 

Gift Mugs 

Gift coffee mugs with your company logo to your employees to encourage them not to use paper or styrofoam cups.  This is not only good for the environment , but will save you money on supplies.  You can also implement a policy in your office encouraging your employees to bring in their own mugs and glasses to cut down on waste.

Install bike racks outside of the office

These lights use lower wattages of energy.  LED bulbs are better because they don’t product as much heat as the incandescent bulbs.  Also, they are made of non-toxic materials that are 100% recyclable.

Add Plants

Besides adding beauty, adding plants to the office help to filter out toxins in the office such as mold, dust mites,  carbon monoxide and chemical agents in cleaning products.  Plants are also useful in stabilizing humidity levels.

Educate

Providing educational materials or even courses for your employees to teach them eco friendly practices can be beneficial both in and outside of your office.  There may even be grants available that can help provide funds for these classes.
