Keeping Focused #weightwatchers #healthylifestyle

My week went pretty well.  I kept within my points range all week and got in a lot of steps.  I was down 2.5 lbs, which is great! This week we focused on imagining what it would be like to be at our goal.  I personally don't like to think that far ahead and don't really even have a vision that far in my mind.  I like to make small goals and strides.  This way I don't put pressure on myself.  I take things week by week.  This keeps me focused and makes the achievement more personal and reachable. I found myself making good food choices, even in bad situations.  Let's face it, there are times that you are going to be out with family or friends and everyone is going to want to go to the ice cream parlor or fast food place.  Whatever that situation may be, you have to be able to express yourself to your peers.  If you don't want anything, don't feel pressured to say yes.  Simply tell them that while you appreciate th...

Where Do you Get Your Inspiration?

Sometimes an event in your life can trigger a life changing transformation.  It could be something as simple as a conversation with a stranger or the success of someone else.  Whatever that inspiration may be, it touches our life in such a way that it makes us want to be a better person. When I see someone succeeding in something that I would like to succeed at, I don't become jealous or envious.  Instead, I try to study their patterns.  I look at what they are doing to succeed.  I ask questions and try to find out what motivates or motivated them.  One thing that I do see many times is that they always set small or short term goals.  They don't concentrate on the end result.   I have gotten taken off of the path to success on many occasions.  In my heart I want to succeed at something and find myself doing well for a while, but then get thrown off course.  In the back of my mind I often will tell myself to get back...

Words of Wisdom Are Worth a Listen

When I was growing up, my elders always seemed to have a cliche' for certain situations.  Some of them made perfect sense to me because they were simple to understand, while others seemed long winded and confusing.  As I matured, I began to understand why my elders were telling me their stories or words of wisdom.  They didn't want me to make the same mistakes as they did. Sometimes we learn from our mistakes, and unfortunately, sometimes we don't.  Making mistakes don't make us failures, not admitting we made them does.  It is human nature to be defensive, even when we know that we are wrong.  It takes a strong person to admit defeat. The next time you are surrounded by your elders and hear a cliche', listen to what they are saying.  If you don't understand what it means, ask. Here are a few popular cliches that you have probably heard before: Actions speak louder than words This one is self explanatory.  After all, yo...

My First Week Back at Weight Watchers #roadtosuccess #weightwatchers

Starting from scratch.... I found it pretty ironic that the focus of the meeting this week had to do with starting a blank canvas and embracing change.  After all,  I was heading off course, back down the road to failure and caught myself before I got to where I was before. The meeting went well.  In the back of my mind I kept waiting for the leader to say, let's all welcome Patty back!  She was slacking for 4 months, but caught herself.  Of course, she would never do that.  But, my mind demons seem to think the worse at times.   I saw a lot of the people who have been on the program and stuck with it, since  I left.  Many looked so much leaner. I wanted to kick myself for not sticking to it, but I am not going to beat myself up.  Instead I use them as an inspiration to succeed, even more. I am making sure to track my food every day.  I decided to go the online app route this time, so that it is easier for me...

How Do You Handle Allergy Season #centralohio #ohio #allergies #sponsored

It always seems that as soon as the warm weather comes around my allergies start to go haywire.  I can't be outside for long periods of time because my allergies bother me so much.  I love being outdoors, but have to limit my time out during peak allergy season. I didn't start to develop my allergies until I was an adult.  Seasons never bothered me when I was a child.  I spoke to my doctor about my condition and luckily it is mild enough to be treated with over the counter medications.  I was also told that air conditioning and frequent showers would help.  Pollen can stick to your hair and skin.  By showering more frequently, it helps to reduce the pollen contact with my skin. I never thought to talk to my doctor about my allergies until I learned about my son's allergies. From the time my son was an infant, until he was preteen, he often had stuffy noses, earaches and colds.  We thought that he was just prone to illness.  ...

Closing In on One Million Steps #fitness #goals

I love to walk but felt like I was slacking in my fitness, so this year I decided to make it my goal to get in more steps.  My husband got me a Garmin Vivo2 for Christmas, to help me track my fitness and steps. I decided that when I went to stores, I would park further from the entrance, take steps instead of escalators, and try to get 10,000 steps a day.  I don't always reach my goal, but I come pretty close every day. The other day I decided to check my step count on my Garmin and saw that I was closing in on one million steps for the year.  I thought to myself, Wow! I did that!  I have to admit, I am a pretty humble person, but this made me feel so proud and so good that I had to share it. I try to encourage others to be more active.  I am not exactly in the best shape that I want to be in and can definitely use improvement on my diet, but I do try.  Over the past year I made a lot of changes to my lifestyle, but once in a while...
