I don't know about you, but my husband could care less about presents for Valentine's Day. But one thing he does love is my baked ziti.
This recipe is simple and is a great way for me to say I love you this Valentine's day.
Quick tip: I use a rectagular foil tray to make my ziti and just toss it in recycles when I am done. Saves me clean up time.
Here is the recipe:
1 lb. ziti cooked "al dente" (any brand)
2 jars of spaghetti sauce (make sure they are over 20 oz.) ( I use Prego Heart Smart) or you can use homemade sauce.
2 lbs ground beef browned and drained
15 oz. Ricotta cheese (any brand or type, I use part skim)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
(optional: 1/3 cup parmesan cheese)
Mix the sauce with the browned ground beef and heat
In a seperate bowl mix all cheeses together
Combine ziti, meat sauce and cheese together in a large baking dish or foil tray
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.
Serve.
This freezes great and refrigerates well.
Buon Appetito!!
